Worth A Thousand Words

I create using a variety of mixed media, hot and cold glass, sculpture, and technology to express my interest in the human culture, specifically the human figure. Through small, detailed glass works, I define what it is to be flawed or ugly in our society. I do this with small portrait glass faces that have been scratched or made imperfect. Much like anthropologist Margaret Mead, I want to spark a revolution in beauty and how we define our flaws. By embracing our scars, we don’t let them define us. The dreadful or unbecoming becomes transformative and beautiful. I reference Pablo Picasso in my drawing work for his simple line style and his inspiration from tribal and African pieces. However, unlike Picasso, I am more interested in the human condition than the rendered artwork.
